Awards Night at UNSW

On the 11th March, a number of awards were presented to the top undergraduates at the School of Chemistry at the University of NSW.

For the second year, CETEC sponsored two of these prizes for the
Best Performance in Honours Thesis.  The prizes, valued at $1500 each, were awarded to David Hvasanov and Ellaine Munton for their equal top theses.

Ellaine Munton's thesis:

"Measurement uncertainty and metrological traceability of carbon isotope ratio measurement results for doping analysis".

David Hvasanov's thesis:

"Self-assembled gels for cancer therapy".

Dr Vyt Garnys, who presented the awards on behalf of CETEC said, "It is inspiring to see such a wide range of advanced scientific research being presented by students at the early stages of their careers. CETEC is proud to be able to encourage excellence in applied science with both its primary school and undergraduate university prizes. Australia needs to get behind young Australians keen to create our future.

Congratulations to both David and Ellaine and the other prize winners.
