Green Cities & Guide to Managing Indoor Enviroment Quality

Dr Vyt Garnys, Managing Director of CETEC, attended Green Cities in Brisbane earlier this month.  He was also the Property Council of Australia's (PCA) invited speaker for their session and he presented on Managing Indoor Environmental Quality and Productivity Measurement.

Green Cities conference report - Dr Vyt Garnys
From 1-4 March, 2009 the buzz in Brisbane was about buildings that are valuable, affordable and sustainable. The presence of politicians on the podium confirmed that sustainable buildings, cities and communities are on the state and National agenda.

Tony Arnel, World Chair of the Green Building Council, Chair of the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) and Victoria’s Building and Plumbing Commissioner introduced the sustainability theme through the grim examples of the Victorian Bushfires and the Queensland floods. International and Australian speakers all reinforced the three streams of Green Leaders, Sustainability Toolbox and Case Studies.

With typical brilliance, Peter Verwer - CEO of the Property Council of Australia - wrapped up with an expert panel ranging through themes of the carbon economy, sustainable city planning and productivity.

The large exhibitors and delegate turn-up and the high level of speakers reinforced that, despite the recession, “Valuable, Affordable and Sustainable Green Cities” are the essential current paradigm and, indeed, a likely solution if we can show improved resource and business productivity.

The Property Council of Australia also promoted their very soon to be released guide on Managing Indoor Environment Quality, which is available on pre-order

CETEC, as exclusive principal sponsor of this publication, is proud to support this world-class guide, which outlines the key elements required for the cost-effective design to ensure the indoor environment quality (IEQ) of new projects.  This guide will help building owners, managers, and developers to deliver healthier and more productive indoor environments, and comply with their rating needs.
