No doubt you consider yourself to be a good manager. If so, you  understand that accurate and relevant measurement for benchmarking of your performance will lead to more effective and efficient management.

Effective and relevant measurement is very important when dealing with the health of your staff and other occupants of your building/s.  But it becomes critical to have true data when facing sustainability issues such as limited physical and labour resources, regulations, public credibility and productivity assessment.

The NSW Department of Environment and Climate Change has developed a rating toolbox called The National Australian Built Environment Rating System (NABERS).  It is overseen by the NABERS Steering Committee and representatives of the Australian, each State and Territory Governments with the Australian Sustainable Built Environment Council as an observer.

NABERS is a performance-based  rating system for existing buildings and includes rating office performance for Energy (ABGR - Australian Built Greenhouse Rating Scheme) and Water, with Waste and Indoor Environment to be introduced soon.

At CETEC we have been closely associated with the Indoor Environment development of the NABERS rating system and we now have two trained NABERS Accredited Professionals in Dr Vyt Garnys and Dr Robert Schiller.   

As a part of this accreditation, they are able to conduct all of the NABERS toolbox elements - ie Energy, Water, Waste and Indoor Environment.  The Waste and Indoor Environment tools are in the final phase of development and will be available in early 2008.

CETEC strongly endorses the NABERS rating system since it is a stepping stone for you to improve your benchmarking, maintenance, wellbeing and productivity management.
